A1 Grand Prix

The A1 Grand Prix (dubbed the World Cup of Motorsports) was first announced to the world in Dubai in March 2004.
The first-ever race, held at Brands Hatch in the UK on September 25th 2005, had a full field of participating teams representing nations from as far afield as Pakistan, Switzerland, Lebanon, China, the United States and Indonesia.
The A1 concept is simple - it's one country versus another using cars decked out in their national colours. All cars are built around identical Lola chassis and powered by 3.4, V8 Zytec engines generating 550bhp. The A1GP car has undergone more than 8,000kms of testing since March 2004.
