Alexander Aircraft Company
The Alexander Aircraft Company (originally the Alexander Film Company) was formed in the 1920s by two brothers, J. Don and S. Don Alexander.
The change in product from film advertising to aircraft came about by accident when they were forced to produce 50 aircraft for their salesmen, when no other company was able to fill such a large order. Originally based in Englewood, they had to move to Colorado Springs to cater to their success and allow expansion of their facilities.
The company built several versions of the Alexander Eaglerock Biplane that went on to be used for barnstorming, airmail, aerial photography, crop dusting, and air racing.
Although the Alexander Aircraft Company enjoyed the prestige of being the largest aircraft manufacturer in the world, from 1928 to 1929 , they were still forced into liquidation in the early 1930s.
