DuQuoin State Fairgrounds

DuQuoin State Fairgrounds is a stop on the ARCA tour which is located 90 miles southeast of St Louis, Missouri. The "Magic Mile" of DuQuoin was built by W.R. Hayes in 1946 out of a reclaimed strip mine land.

It was on September of 1948 that DuQuoin State Fairgrounds had its national championship race. Ted Horn, an AAA National driving champion died during the second race held on the State Fairgrounds on the 10th of October of the same year. The USAC Silver crown dirt cars national championship race is held to honor him.

DuQuoin State Fairgrounds was the original home of America's premier harness racing event which is the Hambletonian. The race is now named as the World Trotting Derby wherein betting whether off track or on track is allowed.
