In addition to the reaquisition of former world champion driver Fernando Alonso, Renault will be racing their new car, the R28, for the 2008 Formula One season. The R28 took the track for the first time at a foggy Valencia circuit on January 21, sporting a look different of that 2007 car, the R27, after a poor 2007 season that saw the team failing to win a single race. The new model has an innovative front end, utilizing a new front wing arrangement and a switch to a zero keel front suspension. Compared to the R27, which was an evolution of the previous cars that brought Renault championships, the R28 employs new designs including a new whole front end which has a large nose cone sitting low over the front wing. Bargeboards are slightly revised, with the forward vanes being mounted McLaren-like to the tub. Read More
