Track Details
Gateway International Raceway is a 1.25 mile oval shaped track located in Raceway Blvd., Madison, Illinois. It has a banking of banking of 11° turns 1-2, 9° Turns 3-4 and 3° straights. Around 60,000 spectators can be accomodated in the venue.

History
The area wherein Gateway International Raceway is situated was once at the bottom of the Mississippi River about two centuries ago.
In 1967, Wayne Meinert constructed St. Louis Raceway Park, a one-eighth-mile long drag strip on thye area. The the strip was expanded to a quarter-mile in length and changed its name to St. Louis International Raceway in 1971. In 1985, a 2.6-mile track was added and after three years it was then renamed to Gateway International Raceway.
