Heikki Kovalainen was leading on lap 22 of the 2008 Spanish Grand Prix when his car crashed into the tyre wall. The crash was quite similar to teammate Lewis Hamilton's crash the previous year at the Nürburgring, with a similar looking tyre failure. Amazingly, Kovalainen was not seriously injured (minor concussion, sore elbow and neck). He was released from a Barcelona area hospital the next day.
