Using Templates
Templates are used mainly when you want to use the same information in many different articles. To save you typing the same information repeatedly you create a template that contains the data, then you place a link to the template, in the position you want it, on the pages that will contain it.
The Improvements box at the top of this page is an example of one of the uses of a template. The wiki code {{Improvements}} was inserted at the top of this page to insert the template.
If the link to the template appears in red after you saved the article it means that it does not exist yet and is need of creating and editing. To create it you click on the link and enter the relevant text and/or images. The red link will then be replaced by the template in the article which contains it.
Status Templates
Status templates (like the one at the top of this page) are the most common type of templates and are found in almost all wiki projects. These are markers used to indicates the status of the article. Here in WikiMotorsports, the number of usable templates that tells a status is still limited, thus we are asking your help to contribute and discuss things that regard the creation of new status templates. Dont be afraid to use our forums page and discussion page to give your opinions or suggestions.
Only administrators that have been granted powers by editors (through suggestions and comments) have the right to create status templates.

Removing Templates
Removing a template is very simple, just delete the template in the edit page and save the article. However, there are rules that must be observed before removing a template:
- Anyone has the right to remove status templates, however, he/she must be sure that the article is complete and requires no major revision.
- In other cases, if a body of contributors and editors feel that the article at hand is finished and the comments in the discussion page agree then anyone can remove the status template.
- Article Related Templates and Nav Templates, cannot be removed without the permission of the creator of the page or the consensus of the people discussing the article.
If anyone has suggestions please feel free to comment on the discussion page.
