Biography

J.J. Yeley was born on Oct. 5, 1976 in Phoenix, Arizona but is currently residing at Charlotte, NC.

He drove Joe Gibbs Racing's No. 18 Chevrolet in the Cup Series and finished 11th in points in his first full season in the Busch Series in 2006. As they say "his upbringing helped him climb the auto racing ladder".

He attended his first race at three weeks old, most of his childhood was spent with his father traveling throughout the West Coast and Midwest. His father “Cactus” Jack Yeley was a seven-time Arizona Midget Racing Association and two-time World of Outlaws midget champion.

At the age of 21 in 1998 he became the youngest driver to qualify for the Indianapolis 500 finishing at 9th in points.

When he was 10 years old, he first got behind the wheel of a Quarter Midget and later raced on go-karts and raced Midgets when he was 14 were he was awarded the Arizona Midget Racing Association rookie of the year in 1991.

Competing in 17 races for Gibbs in 2004 made his Busch Series debut finishing with four top-10s. At Atlanta, he also finished 27th in the fall race and made two Cup starts that season.
