Biography

Johnny Sauter is one of the eleven children of legendary short track racer Jim Sauter.

Sauter started his career after finishing high school in 1996 in the Sportsman Division at Wisconsin Dells Motor Speedway. He gathered three win s. He raced in the Late Model Division at LaCrosse Motor Speedway the next year.

In 1998, Sauter entered the American Speed Association Series. He earned victory in the ASA Series Championship in 2001 and was named Rookie of the Year.He got his first break in the NASCAR Busch Series competing in six races for Richard Childress Racing in the same year.
