Track Details
Kentucky Speedway is a 1.5 mile tri-oval shaped motor speedway with a banking of 14° turns, 8° frontstretch, 4° backstretch. Situated in north-central Kentucky, near the community of Sparta, Kentucky; it is designed to host a NASCAR NEXTEL Cup race which has seating capacity of 66,000. The track has hosted NASCAR Busch Series and Craftsman Truck Series races, as well as IRL races.
History
Kentucky Speedway was opened in the year 2000. Four race weekend were held in the track within a year including the Busch Series and Craftsman Trucks.
Kentucky Speedway filed a lawsuit against NASCAR and International Speedway Corporation in July 2005, , (ISC) claiming that they violated federal antitrust laws by not allowing tracks to bid for NASCAR races, provided they meet the necessary requirements.
