Track Details
Las Vegas Motor Speedway is a 1.5 mile d-shaped oval track with a banking of 20° turns, 9° frontstretch, and 9° backstretch. Located just a few miles north of The Strip, the speedway seems to sits like a diamond in the desert. With its 1,600 acre land that includes road courses, a three-eighths mile oval, a dirt track and a state-of-the-art drag racing facility, Las Vegas Motor Speedway is considered as one of the most complete racing complexes in the world.
History
Las Vegas Motor Speedway began its constriction in 1995 with a cost of $200. It was completed in the year 1996.
In 1996, the first Nascar race held in the complex of the Speedway was a Truck Series event.
There were several major changes in track by 2006 with the entire surface reconstructed with progressive banking installed and fan-friendly features in the infield. By 2007, officials made the grandstand seating during NASCAR weekend smoke-free.
