History of the NHRA

Wally Parks founded the National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) in 1951 to organise and promote drag racing.

In 2001, the NHRA brought out the National Import Racing Association (NIRA) and renamed it the Sport Compact category.

There are four main classes in the series: Top Fuel Dragster, Top Fuel, Funny Car, Pro Stock, and Pro Stock Bike.
