Crosskart is a kart racing-type motorsport that is usually conducted on autocross, speedway, dirt, or snow tracks rather than on paved tracks. This motorsport is quite popular in Nordic countries, with southern Europe adapting a similar kind of sport by the name of Kartcross. Crosskart, said to be the brainchild of Erland Andersson of Sweden, basically was born from the idea of creating a safe, cheap, and easy to maintain vehicle. In mid 1980's three test races were administered and eversince, the sport has grown from mere leagues (The Swedish Cup) to state championships (1992) to finally the national competition (Swedish Championship, 1998).
