Supercross, abbreviated as SX, is a racing competition between specialized high performance off-road motorcycles which are held at artificially made dirt tracks consisting of steep jumps and obstacles. Putting it simply, supercross is an indoor version of the motocross. SX races are usually contested in stadiums and arenas (open or close) with numerous jumps which makes the competition more exciting. The term Supercross actually was the name of the event for the first organized Motocross race conducted inside a stadium in the United States. After the initial "Super Bowl of Motocross" competition, which drew the best motocross drivers during that era, was a success, the term "Supercross" has been carried out to identify the similar to Motocross stadium cycling events. At the moment, several supercross races are being conducted by various motorcycle organizations, including the oldest motorcycle racing org, the American Motorcyclist Association.

The Supercross Masters is a motorcycle series conducted in Australia with races being held in Queensland, South Australia, Victoria and NSW. The SX masters start off with the outdoor preliminary rounds and then on to the indoor majors. The biggest motorcycle manufacturers taking part in this competition include Honda, Kawasaki, Suzuki, and Yamaha, as well as European producers KTM and HUSQVARNA. SX Masters had its start in the early 1980's when Spokes Promotions staged its maiden competition at the Royal Melbourne Showground in November. Spokes then went on to hold events at various venues, including at the Sydney Entertainment Centre, and at the Centre Court at Melbourne Park Tennis Centre. Masters became a national series by 1990 and eventually, Spokes' own TV broadcast being aired nationally via the TEN Network.
