Biography

Tony Stewart was born on May 20, 1971 in Columbus, Ind. He began racing at the age of seven in go-carts. At eight, Stewart had his first taste of victory in a 4-cycle rookie junior class championship at the Columbus Fairgrounds.

From go-carts, Stewart shifted to open-wheel machines in 1989. He bagged the 1991 Rookie of the Year award.

Stewart won the his first USAC championship in 1994. He made a history in USAC earning winning the Triple Crown in just the same year in 1995.

Stewart joined the Indy Car Series and won 1996 Rookie of the Year. The next year, he bagged the series championship.

In 2003, Stewart awakened the philanthropist side of him when he formed his own foundation.
